The Sigala project aims to disseminate widely to specialists and non-specialists alike. Thus, this website makes available the main body of research – with the option of downloading its contents for browsing and searching offline. It is expected that once this project gains momentum, journal articles and conference presentations will start to flow.

Cultivating sīla Online: the use of Cognitive Interventions in Systems Design
Given on 11 September 2021
This paper treats the cognitive aspects of online
use, indicating how the mind is conditioned by
repeated interaction with digital services, focusing
on the use of interventions. Whereas many existing
social media systems have been designed for
addictiveness, the paper proposes a means to recover
awareness by cognitive prompts, using at strategic
points thinking routines.
Presented at the ninth annual conference of the
Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues. A
post on this site includes slides and a brief
summary. Download paper (Academia).
